I had the pleasure of practicing with Sharath and Saraswati Jois a few weeks ago. I never thought I’d be able to get that chance (except in my 2nd life). It was a short practice. I don’t know why they didn’t schedule them for hours. We only got to Navasana before a short closing sequence. Sharath made jokes about our legs shaking on the 5th navasana. He counted the 5th breaths really slowly on the last one to make us sweat. Saraswati was beautiful. Always smiling. My Chaturangas were much more powerful when she was stepping on my mat.
Two of their advanced students were there so Sharath used them as examples to show us proper techniques once we finished our own practice. I’ve never seen more graceful jump throughs than with those two. They were floating. After, Sharath spoke a little about yoga…and led us through some pranayama.
“Yoga is not new. It’s been here since the world happened.” He mentioned that there is only one yoga (and we just practice it in different forms).
“Everyone starts their practice with asana. Once they come inside they think its more than that. Their whole life will change. Your whole perception towards this world will change.”

It was definitely a wonderful experience. I was sore for days as proof.
